CU Keling Kumang was established on March 25, 1993 in Tapang Sambas Village, Sekadau Regency, West Kalimantan Province. It has obtained a Provincial Legal Entity Status no. 50a/BH/PAD/X1995 Kabupaten Sanggau SK Kemenkuham Badan Hukum Nasional AHU-0001183.AH.01.39 TAHUN 2023.
CU Keling Kumang was founded because it was concerned about the issues of poverty, injustice, land grabbing, enviromental degradation, lack of job opportunities, and powerlessness of marginalized groups.
